We're Different... and We'll Prove It
Privacy Protector from DeadBoltSecure.com is your ultimate solution. After over five years of successful development and testing, with thousands of subscribers paying nearly three times the cost as offered here, it's available now, at a price point that you really can't afford to say no to. DeadBoltSecure Privacy Protector includes an Industry-Class Personal Firewall protection feature that operates at the "Socket-Level". Until now, this type of protection has been virtually un-available to consumers, and outperforms the standard port-level firewall schemes found in other off-the-shelf privacy software packages. Not only does the "Socket-Level" Firewall protection from DeadBoltSecure.com constantly monitor the doors to your computer for malicious incoming traffic, it is also standing guard at all times, watching every single bit and byte of information that LEAVES your computer. Un-authorized file transfers or uploads out of your computer just cannot be executed while the DeadBoltSecure Privacy Protector is on duty.
DeadBoltSecure Privacy Protector has six robust features to help secure your personal privacy, as well as enhancing your Internet experience by speeding up your computer, and removing un-necessary junk temporary files from your drives on a regular basis. You can learn more about each of the six key features by following the links in the logo at the left, or from the top menu bar.
The Privacy Protector is offered as a Service, with a low monthly recurring maintenance fee to cover constant updates and enhancements as needed. The cost of this service is less than .37¢ per day, billed automatically at just $10.99 a month per Activation Key. And, we are so confident you will want to keep the service running on your computer month after month, year after year, we also reward our satisfied customers with a monthly "Customer Loyalty Incentive" that is un-matched in the industry. Take a good look at our commitment to YOU, on the "Customer Loyalty Incentive" page, and we think you'll agree, and you'll want a copy of the DeadBoltSecure Privacy Protector on every computer you own.
"BUSINESS GRADE" PERSONAL FIREWALL
Connecting to the Internet without a Firewall is like leaving the keys in your car with the engine running and the doors unlocked, while you run into the store. Although you may be able to get in and out before anyone notices, someone may take advantage of the opportunity.
On the Internet, hackers use malicious code, such as viruses, worms, and Trojan horses to try to find unprotected computers. A firewall can help protect your computer against these and other security attacks.
SO...WHAT CAN A HACKER DO TO MY COMPUTER?
It depends on the nature of the attack. While some attacks are just nuisances that may play simple pranks, others are created with malicious intent. Hackers can:
- MONITOR your activities
- STEAL personal information, passwords or credit card numbers
- USE your PC to perform illegal attacks against major corporations
- DELETE information from your drives
- CRASH your computer
- Where did the traffic come from and what port is it addressed to?
- Do the Personal Firewall rules allow traffic through that port?
- Is the traffic authorized by a program on your computer?
SHOW ME WHICH PROGRAMS ARE TRYING TO SEND INFORMATION OVER THE INTERNET
When an Internet program is started, the program begins to establish a network connection. While the program is establishing this connection, Personal Firewall stops the program from connecting until you decide what network activity you want this program to take. The message appears when one of your programs is trying to access the Internet. Choose Allow, if you want to give permission to the program to access the Internet, or Block, to stop it.
Personal Firewall is your best protection against malicious activities. Our software automatically blocks intrusions and hostile attacks. It not only acts as a shield for your system, but it also boasts additional security features to make your Internet experience more secure. Easy-to-use, yet highly powerful, our Personal Firewall software is a must-have defense for your computer and your personal data.
FILE SHREDDER
Contrary to common belief, Windows® does not physically remove deleted files from your hard disk. Emptying your Recycle Bin does NOT protect you at all. Your sensitive files can be recovered, even after you format your hard disk! When you delete a file from Windows®, the Operating System just marks the file as deleted in the FAT (file allocation table), but the data of the file is still on your hard disk. There are many tools available which can let others easily recover your sensitive files, even after you format your hard disk.
HOW DOES DeadBoltSecure's FILE SHREDDER PROTECT YOUR FILES?
By overwriting the portion on the hard drive that was previously allocated each file, several times, with random bytes. File Shredder will completely erase files from your disk, without the possibility of recovery by any practical software or hardware methods. You can choose different methods for wiping the files, depending on the level of security you desire or need.
WHY SHOULD I WIPE FILES AT ALL?
Suppose you sell your computer or your hard disk. Suppose your computer has to be sent out to a workshop for repair. If it contains sensitive data you will generally make backups and delete the sensitive files to make sure they can't be accessed. But if the files haven't actually been properly wiped, the data can be recovered -- and there are plenty of people willing to make the effort necessary to access it. For example: your critical or personal financial data, or your company's new technology that competitors may be interested in!DeadBoltSecure's File Shredder includes several different levels and options. Read below for one example:
-
OPTION: Rename files and folders before wiping:
Because of the way Windows® works, it is not possible to delete the names of files and folders directly. Even if their contents have been wiped completely, the names are always still accessible to anyone with the necessary tools. This can be a problem if you have files and folders with sensitive names that you don't want anyone to see. When this option is selected, DeadBoltSecure's File Shredder overwrites the names of all wiped files and folders with random bytes, making it impossible to recover the original names. This option is Recommended, and selected by default.
AD BLOCKER
The Ad Blocker works automatically in the background, denying banner ads, flash ads, animated GIFs and even rich-media floating ads. It actually speeds up your Internet connection, and can reduce your bandwidth costs.
The Ad Blocker was specifically designed to enhance your connection speed by denying ads before they get to your computer. The Ad Blocker helps rid your computer of un-solicited advertising, to speed up your search and download of email, graphics, MP3s, and movies. With the Ad Blocker, websites can actually load 2 to 3 times faster, depending on the number of in-site ads and window ads on each page.
To a web surfer, advertisements can be a nuisance, especially heavy graphic files, banners, animated GIFs, and Flash ads. They often outweigh editorial content in size, and can double, even triple, download times. This is especially true for more popular sites, naturally preferred by advertisers because of their heavy traffic.
DeadBoltSecure's Ad Blocker includes an Exception List that contains URLs that Ad Blocker will block (black list), or will not block (white list). Some images that are part of a website may sometimes be blocked based upon their size dimensions. Our research team periodically checks the ad list for accepted ad sizes and blocks these size images within the Ad Blocker.
We make it easy to include images on the White List, simply right click on the blocked image you wish to see and select "Add to White List" from the drop down menu.
Ad Blocker may be selectively activated or de-activated at any time.
INTERNET CLEANER
Have you ever run low on free hard drive space? Have you ever noticed web pages loading at a snail's speed, despite having a new computer? Often, the reason for such system behavior is found in both unused and temporary data files, as well as registry entries.
It is well known that web browsers such as Internet Explorer, AOL or MSN Explorer save a web page's content on your hard drive in a special cache. The cache can grow without limits and one day will occupy all the space of your hard drive. To prevent this the browser cache should be cleaned out on a regular basis.
That is where DeadBoltSecure's Internet Cleaner comes into play! It will clean all unwanted files and temporary data, as well as useless registry entries, etc.
Internet Cleaner can also be used as a tool to protect your privacy. Windows® stores information on the documents you are working on, the images and movies you are viewing, and the web sites you are visiting. DeadBoltSecure's Internet Cleaner deletes all of this information so that no one can track what you have been doing on your computer.
Using the Internet and surfing the web creates an amazing number and variety of temporary files and data objects on your computer. Almost all this data can be deleted safely. Internet Cleaner seeks out and allows you to delete all of the temporary or security-compromising data types created on your machine while you are online. At the same time, it provides mechanisms for maintaining the convenience of these Windows® and web mechanisms. For example, you can create a list of trusted sites whose cookies will be ignored in the cleaning process.
We recommend that if you leave your computer on all night, you set the Option to run the Internet Cleaner once a day, while un-attended, to keep your system running at it's best.
SYSTEM CLEANER
System Cleaner seeks out and deletes redundant files on your computer’s drives, freeing up valuable space and streamlining your system. The default settings are safe and will only find items that can be safely deleted. A system cleaned with DeadBoltSecure's System Cleaner will produce smooth, more efficient performance with maximum protection for your system.
WHY DO I NEED A SYSTEM CLEANER?
Every day your hard drive gets littered with file fragments and debris you can't see. Unwanted garbage from daily usage and Internet surfing can build up over time, slowing down your system's performance, and leaving a trail of your web browsing habits for anyone to see!
These junk files take up a lot of valuable space on your hard drives. Keeping them serves no useful purpose and deleting them makes space available for saving more important data.
In addition to occupying valuable space, these excess junk files begin to slow your system to a crawl. DeadBoltSecure's System Cleaner seeks out all these files, and removes them safely and reliably, streamlining and optimizing your system.
We recommend that if you leave your computer on all night, you set the Option to run the Internet Cleaner once a day, while un-attended, to keep your system running at it's best.

A: To effectively use the System Cleaner for a thorough cleaning, you must not be connected to the Internet. If you are connected, you will not get a thorough clean since some of your shared files are in use, and cannot be safely removed at that time.
Q: How do I know the Ad Blocker is working?
A: You can view the statistics within the DeadBoltSecure console at any time. Also, ads being blocked within web pages will display the message "Blocked by DeadBoltSecure.com", as a replacement, and blocked pop-ups will emit a "blocked" sound, if enabled.
Q: Will DeadBoltSecure work on a Macintosh?
A: No. Worldwide, 90% of computer users use Windows®. Given this overwhelming fact, we currently do not support any other operating systems at this time.
Q: Does DeadBoltSecure support AOL?
A: Yes. We support AOL 9.0 or later. If you have an older version of AOL, you should upgrade. If you are using an older AOL browser, then you must switch to Internet Explorer to receive the full benefits of "DeadBoltSecure". Internet Explorer is included in AOL 9.0 and above.
Q: What if I misplace my confirmation email or Activation Key?
A: To get your Activation Key, simply login to the "My Account" section. Your Activation Key and other information are listed within your back office. To have your confirmation email re-sent to you, email us at support@deadboltsecure.com.
Q: I recently bought a new computer. How do I transfer DeadBoltSecure from my old computer to my new one?
A: You can install DeadBoltSecure on your new computer using the same instructions in your confirmation email, or from the link in your back office under the "My Account" section. Please note that you will be required to request a new activation key to run the DeadBoltSecure Console on your new computer.
Q: Why won’t my Activation Key work?
A: The most common reason an Activation Key "won’t work" is that the key was not entered correctly. We recommend that you copy and paste the activation key from your confirmation email to the registration window to avoid mistakes. If you attempt to manually type the Activation Key into the registration window, it’s easy to mistake a "0" (zero) for a capital "O", and so forth.
Q: Is DeadBoltSecure "Spyware"?
A: No. We are very Anti-Spyware. Our "Personal Firewall" feature keeps spyware from functioning on your computer by blocking the ability of your activities being reported to the outside world. DeadBoltSecure "reports" the following items only to our service's central system.-
1. A simple validation of your Activation Key to make sure you have a valid and current licensed copy.
2. If you have the automatic enhancements turned on, we periodically check to make sure that you have the latest version of our software running on your system.
Q: Is DeadBoltSecure Anti-Virus software?
A: No. The DeadBoltSecure Privacy Protector service helps to protect you from hackers who could install a virus. However, since most viruses come through email, the best virus protection is not to ever open any email attachments from unknown sources. We recommend that you use an Anti-Virus program in addition to the DeadBoltSecure Privacy Protector for the best protection. We can make excellent recommendations along these lines."Customer Loyalty Incentive" Rewards Program
