A: Yes. We support AOL 9.0 or later. If you have an older version of AOL, you should upgrade. If you are using an older AOL browser, then you must switch to Internet Explorer to receive the full benefits of "DeadBoltSecure". Internet Explorer is included in AOL 9.0 and above.
Q: What if I misplace my confirmation email or Activation Key?
A: To get your Activation Key, simply login to the "My Account" section. Your Activation Key and other information are listed within your back office. To have your confirmation email re-sent to you, email us at support@deadboltsecure.com.
Q: I recently bought a new computer. How do I transfer DeadBoltSecure from my old computer to my new one?
A: You can install DeadBoltSecure on your new computer using the same instructions in your confirmation email, or from the link in your back office under the "My Account" section. Please note that you will be required to request a new activation key to run the DeadBoltSecure Console on your new computer.
Q: Why won’t my Activation Key work?
A: The most common reason an Activation Key "won’t work" is that the key was not entered correctly. We recommend that you copy and paste the activation key from your confirmation email to the registration window to avoid mistakes. If you attempt to manually type the Activation Key into the registration window, it’s easy to mistake a "0" (zero) for a capital "O", and so forth.
Q: Is DeadBoltSecure "Spyware"?
A: No. We are very Anti-Spyware. Our "Personal Firewall" feature keeps spyware from functioning on your computer by blocking the ability of your activities being reported to the outside world. DeadBoltSecure "reports" the following items only to our service's central system.
1. A simple validation of your Activation Key to make sure you have a valid and current licensed copy.
Q: Is DeadBoltSecure Anti-Virus software?
2. If you have the automatic enhancements turned on, we periodically check to make sure that you have the latest version of our software running on your system.
A: No. The DeadBoltSecure Privacy Protector service helps to protect you from hackers who could install a virus. However, since most viruses come through email, the best virus protection is not to ever open any email attachments from unknown sources. We recommend that you use an Anti-Virus program in addition to the DeadBoltSecure Privacy Protector for the best protection. We can make excellent recommendations along these lines.
